It’s been a long journey for me to get to this point and I’m very happy now to release this album and let it make it’s own way in the world.
So many people helped along the way – a huge thank you to all the incredible musicians who played on the record and took my bare bones demos and turned them into sonic paintings: Dan Smith, Luke Bullen, Russ Parker, Carl Hudson, Carl Stanbridge, Steve Simpson, Henri Växby, Emily Moment, Andy McNish, Erika Olson, Misha Chylkova, Des Horsfall, Harri Ala-Kojola, Anssi Vaxby, James Hayto, Adam Phillips, Barbara Bartz, Josh Goforth, Geraint Watkins, Frank Mead, Hamilton Belk, John Robinson and Mark Edwards.
A big thanks to Angus Wallace who did a brilliant job mixing and had my favourite combination of great talent and infinite patience.
The front cover was taken up in Hampstead, London, one cold winter afternoon by Jonathan Ellman. And the design was created beautifully by Rosella Fraschini with the assistance of the wonderful Gudi Bee and Colin Bodiam.
So many people helped me in different ways along the way, but special mention has to go to Paul Martin, Andy McNish, Dan Smith, Henri Växby and John Robinson who were so instrumental to the project as a whole in getting from start to finish and to whom I owe a lot.
This album is dedicated to the memory of Pat West and Steve Simpson, two beautiful human beings, who both played a key role in the making and sadly never got to hear it before it was finished.
I’m proud that the album is coming out on Valve-Records, home of the late great Spencer Bohren – one of my musical heroes.
